dtm week 6
this week, we went on a field trip to waitangi park, civic square and the national war memorial. there were lots of different kinds of lights such as high intensity discharge lights all the way to led's. there were lots of different lights and shapes. this gives me an idea on what my light should look like.

these are some of the conseptual designs that i have sketched up. these conseptual designs are using 2 different circuits that have very different sised batteries and solar panels. also, the circuits themselfs are very different. one regulates the currant and voltage so no components blow, but the other has a transistor oscilator to boost the voltage from a simgle AA sised nicad battery.
Sises:
solar panel a: 140 x 140 mm
solar panel b: 55 x 55 mm
Battery a: 47 x 150 x 93 mm
battery b: AA sise (LR6)
specs:
solar panel a: 1W 6V
solar panel b: 30ma 1.2V

solidworks
lately, i have been working with solidworks. this is is the program that i will use to make a computer generated mockup of the light that i will use for the solar garden light im making. solidworks is a very complicated program to use and it likes to make the computers crash

client constraints
Dr Tony House (client)
Constraints
-Must be solar powered
-must be finished by the end of the year
-must not corrode
-$60 budget
client specifications
Dr Tony House (Client)
Specifications:
-Self powered
-Low maintanance
-Can be switched on/off
-Outdoor
-Shows adequate lighting
-Light must have more power then the lamp can give
-Must be made of non-corrosive materials
-Camoflaged
brief
Dr Tony house
Brief:
I need to make a solar powered low maintanance light that automaticly turns itself on and of depending on the light. The light has to be weatherproof, Rustproof and made of non-corrosive materials as th light is an outdoor light. The light is going to be placed in poacita next to the beech. the solar panel on the light will need to charge the battery at daytime and the light turn on at night time. the light has to have a budget of $60
specs:
- self powered
- low maintinance
- can be switched on/off
- outdoor
- shows adequite lighting
- led's must have more power then light can give
- must be made of non-corrosive materials
- camoflaged
dimentions:
solar panel a = 140x140mm
sloar panel b = 55x55mm
battery = 47x150x93
poacita grass research:
poacita grass also known as the silver tussock is a kind of grass that grows in shrubs around 30 - 70 cm tall. it grows around beaches and in hot sunny aeras.

solidworks circuit design
term 1 week 5
this week, i have done a boat wiring diagram on piece of paper. i had to use a pencil. on Friday, i am going to study different lighting solutions at three locations. waitangi park, civic square and the national war memorial.
dtm week 4
this week, ive completed unit standard 7509 and have also done a boat diagram so well that i got to take it home. for the boat diagram, i had to add a self powered circuit to the boat along with lights, flood lights and emergency lighting. this week, i have started a level 2 unit standard that is worth four credits and have also written up two briefs. one for Dr House and another for mr Hall

dtm week 1, 2 and 3
3 weeks ago, i have been introduced to the course that i am going to do. we are planning on making a small solar garden light that recharges at day and turns on at night. we also might be making our own solar panel towards the end of the course. this and last week, i have researched different garden light designs and i have made and tested different circuits for a garden light that i will make this year.
